Hong Kong by Fan Ho

I recently discovered the mysterious and beautiful work of the Chinese photographer and director Fan Ho and I would like to share it with you. Fan Ho took these pictures of Hong Kong’s streets between 1952 and 1962 while the country was experiencing a major political change.
Often depicted as a “poet with a camera”, Fan Ho’ s photographs are incredibly modern with their dramatic perspectives and elegant abstraction. They can also be seen as a chronicle of the daily life in the slums and streets of Hong Kong, but what struck me most is their surreal geometric magnetism, which echoes the Bauhaus aesthetic. An intriguing journey in time…
